Drug treatment for heart failure doesn't increase readmissions

A new study in the American Journal of Medicine backs the use of beta blockers in older Medicare heart failure patients.

 
An analysis found that the drugs in patients with heart failure or reduced ejection fraction started on the medication during a hospitalization didn’t have a higher readmission rate than those who did not use the medication. This is good news for clinicians who want to initiate the therapy.
