News: Wendy DeVreugd to discuss case management mentoring at CMSA conference

Wendy DeVreugd, RN, BSN, PHN, FNP, CCDS, MBA, will present “New Graduate Orientation and Mentorship Program for Case Managers Who Have Minimal RN Work Experience” June 21 at the Case Management Society of America 22nd Annual Conference & Expo in San Francisco.

DeVreugd is senior director of case management for Kindred Healthcare Hospital Division's west region for case management, social work, and clinical documentation improvement programs in Kindred Healthcare Hospital Division’s west region, which includes six states and 26 hospitals. She is a member of the editorial advisory board of Case Management Monthly, published by HCPro, Inc. She is a past board member of the Association of Clinical Documentation Specialists and participates in several of the organization’s workgroups. Her column, “Mentoring Matters,” appears bimonthly in CMSA Today.

Fusae Abbot, RN, DNSc, and Janet W. Rowland, MSN, RN-BC, ACM, associate professor and assistant professor, respectively, at the School of Nursing at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, Calif, will co-present with DeVreugd.
 
DeVreugd has 41 years’ experience in clinical and advanced nursing practice, short-term and long-term acute care hospital management and strategic planning programs, quality management, risk management, infection control, acute and ambulatory care level case management, managed care development, shared risk contract management, disease state management programs, business management, clinical documentation improvement program implementation, and legal nurse consulting.
