News: States begin implementing Medicaid face-to-face requirements

Case Management Weekly, May 11, 2011

Several states are beginning to implement Medicaid face-to-face requirements, prior to the CMS’s release of a proposed rule regarding Medicaid patients. In February, Ohio became the first state to implement a statewide Medicaid face-to-face encounter requirement.

Melissa Harris, a CMS representative, told ACMA that the agency plans to issue a proposed regulation in the next few months. “In the meantime, we're encouraging states and providers to become familiar with the Medicare timeframes, as we intend to align across programs,” said Harris.
