News: More patients need home health services after hospitalization

The number of patients who needed home health care after a hospital stay increased by nearly 70% from 1997 to 2008, according to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
The number of patients discharged to their homes without additional care grew by less than 8% during the same period. AHRQ also found a 40% increase in the number of patients who left the hospital against medical advice between 1997 and 2008.
