Case management’s many ties to the organization’s financial status make establishing ties to the finance department a worthwhile endeavor.
The ability to share information and provide data that affect a hospital’s bottom line opens doors to resources. CFOs have the ability to approve or deny any program or resources with associated costs. Case management departments can win allies and earn a prominent seat at the decision-making table by providing proof of their ability to:
- Prevent denials by properly assigning admission status,
- Prevent inappropriate admissions, and
- Discharge patients without delay days.
This week’s tip is adapted from Prevent Denials and Win Appeals: The Hospital Case Manager's Guide to Revenue Integrity published by HCPro, Inc. For more information on this newsletter or to order your copy, visit the HCMarketplace.
