CMW news: Report reveals how cancer patients are coping with recession

The Kaiser Family Foundation along with the American Cancer Society released a report recently that profiles how six cancer patients and survivors deal with paying for their care amidst the current economic recession.

The report is titled, “Patients Under Pressure: Profiles of How Patients Affected by Cancer are Faring in the Recession.” Topics covered include:

  • Obstacles to continuing insurance coverage through COBRA
  • Difficulty finding an insurer
  • Limited availability of public insurance coverage
  • How patients deal with accumulating medical debt
  • Delays in care due to lack of funding
