President-elect Barack Obama supporters will be gathering in homes across America to discuss strategies to reform the healthcare system, and insurance companies are hoping to get an invite.
According to The New York Times, these house parties could turn into lobbying sessions if insurance company employees and satisfied customers attend the more than 4,200 meetings that have been scheduled, as they’ve been encouraged to do.
Insurers are hoping to fight certain elements of Obama’s proposed healthcare plan, such as the creation of a new public insurance plan that would compete with private insurers.
