One of the most useful positions to emerge in recent years to support and enhance the role of the case manager is the case manager technician.
Case manager technicians work in tandem with case managers, providing daily support by performing clerical and technical assistance. The role provides a cost-effective solution that helps maximize case managers’ time and many organizations may find it is worth implementing.
Under the supervision of a case manager or director, technicians relieve case managers from the clerical work that consumes at least 10%–20% of their time.
Technicians assist case managers and social workers with their daily activities, such as making ambulance arrangements, verifying insurance, and determining and communicating a patient’s Medicare available days.
