Twenty-six hospitals—out of 3,800 nationwide—recently earned the 2008 Premiere Award for Quality (AFQ) presented by Premiere healthcare alliance. To earn this award, hospitals had to rank in the top 1% for providing outstanding patient care and clinical excellence.
The hospitals were evaluated using performance-based criteria, including clinical quality outcomes, resource utilization, and clinical process indicators. The award honors not only clinical excellence in quality care, but also operational efficiency, said the senior vice president of Premier Healthcare Informatics.
All acute care hospitals that submitted information to CMS and to the CMS Hospital Compare project were considered for the award.
