The Californian Senate has rejected Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposal to provide almost all Californians with health insurance, reported the Los Angeles Times.
The governor's $14.9 billion plan would have required California residents to hold private health insurance and subsidized insurance premiums for those who could not afford them on their own. Although the proposal passed the Assembly last month, it was struck down by the Senate, which said the plan was too risky and lacked long-term viability, potentially costing tax payers billions of dollars more in the future.
