Representatives from Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States met Friday in order to voice support for the World Health Organization's (WHO) global patient safety agenda. The WHO Action on Patient Safety Initiative, also known as the High 5s Project, looks to improve patient safety worldwide.

The project centers around developing standard operating protocols for five major patient safety problems around the world. The Joint Commission and The Joint Commission International lead the WHO Collaborating Center in partnership with the WHO World Alliance for Patient Safety and the Commonwealth Fund.
