In August, The Joint Commission (formerly JCAHO) announced its choice of successor as president of the organization: Mark R. Chassin, MD, MPP, MPH. Chassin is the Edmond A. Guggenheim professor of health policy and chair of the department of health policy at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and executive vice president for excellence in patient care at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. His term begins January 1, 2008. BOJ recently interviewed the president-elect, with topics ranging from the future of The Joint Commission to remote assessment of quality of data.
