CMS to make no changes to clinical trial policy
Accreditation Connection, October 26, 2007
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced this week that it will make no changes to the clinical trial policy national coverage determination issued in July.
The decision follows a review by the organization, as well as public comments.
In July the CMS proposed additional standards as well as requirements for an approval process regarding those standards, as well as clarifications and services that would be covered by approved trials.
The CMS will continue to refine the policy further "in order to ensure the quality and appropriateness of trials that enroll Medicare beneficiaries," said Acting CMS Administrator Kerry Weems in an official statement.
