Testing patients for MRSA could wipe out bug

Consumer advocates are urging hospitals to test all new patients for a dangerous staph infection, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) which currently kills more Americans than AIDS, according to a report by the Associated Press.

Few hospitals currently test for the infection, while experts say that a better approach would place higher importance on hand hygiene by hospital staff to prevent infection.
