AHA criticizes MS.1.20 revisions
Accreditation Connection, October 19, 2007
The American Hospital Association (AHA) issued a statement on October 18 regarding concerns by a number of hospitals regarding the upcoming changes to medical staff standard MS.1.20.
The AHA stated that the upcoming changes would substantially weaken medical executive committees. The AHA also took a stand regarding recent trends in medical staffing that the organization says the standard overlooks, "in which some physicians focus their care on hospitalized patients and choose to be employed by hospitals or large group practices affiliated with hospitals."
