Joint Commission announces new president

The Joint Commission announced this week the appointment of Mark R. Chassin, MD, MPP, MPH, as its new president. Chassin's appointment begins as of January 1, 2008.
According to The Joint Commission's official announcement, among Chassin's accomplishments are building a nationally-recognized quality improvement program with the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, as well as successful efforts to bring Six Sigma quality improvement (QI) methods to the center's hospital and medical school. His research at Mount Sinai has focused on developing and using QI measures, as well as studying the relationship between QI and improvement to health policy.
