AHA launches Web site to prevent healthcare-related budget cuts

Accreditation Connection, July 16, 2007

The American Hospital Association has created a Web site that allows both healthcare providers and consumers to petition Congress to cease making budget cuts that would affect healthcare from local hospitals. The home page for My Care Counts has a form that visitors have the option of filling out, with their names and contact information, as well as their affiliation with whatever hospital is identified as the local hospital.

The site stresses that if proposed budget cuts to Medicare and Medicaid are to be carried out, it will lead to patients receiving poorer care at facilities that may not be able to stay updated with the latest technology. The site also gives visitors materials to distribute this information throughout their community and hospitals. This includes, an organizational guide, fliers, and e-mails.
