U.S. performs poorly on world healthcare survey

Accreditation Connection, May 21, 2007

The U.S. healthcare system ranks last when compared to other rich countries, according to a study performed by the Commonwealth Fund.

The study put the U.S. last in performance measures such as access to healthcare, patient safety, timeliness of care, efficiency, and equity compared to Australia, Britain, Canada, Germany, and New Zealand, according to Reuters.

The poor rankings come despite the U.S. having the most expensive health system in the world.

Great Britain received the highest scores in the study.
