Joint Commission announces new performance measurement requirements for DSC certification

Organizations should be aware of new performance measurements and improvement focus requirements for disease-specific care (DSC) certification, which becomes effective July 1, according to The Joint Commission's Web site.

The new measures for DSC certification include:

* Using the "cycle for performance improvement" to analyze areas of improvement

* Reporting information to The Joint Commission Implementing an improvement plan that demonstrates results over time

* Reviewing the success of interventions

* Collecting monthly data

* Collecting four or more months of measurement data prior to certification
