Organ procurement team update

The Joint Commission clarified rules for credentialing the organ procurement team on the hospital standard FAQ section of its Web Site earlier this month.

The revised FAQ looks at the question of whether healthcare organizations must review credentials and grant privileges to transport teams and donor surgical teams.

The short answer is no, hospitals do not have to review credentials for transport or donor surgical teams because these people visit the hospital infrequently and for a "brief period of time."
