PPR process updated in Perspectives

The Joint Commission updated the process for Periodic Performance Reviews (PPR) for providers in its March issue of Perspectives. The article included three Q&As answering questions on plan of action (POA) implementation dates, PPR Option 3, and PPR Option 1.

The issue also includes a correction from a October 2006 PPR update regarding surveys occurring prior to a phone call from the Standards Interpretation Group.

The FAQs associated with the POA implementation date says that organizations should implement a POA for their PPR with 45 calendar days of the day a standard was identified as noncompliant. The question on PPR Option 3 says that facilities choosing Option 3 are not allowed to challenge its survey report's findings.
