PFP reports available for all JCAHO survey types in 2007
Accreditation Connection, December 5, 2006
The PFP reports will be updated quarterly but will use data from up to three previous years from the date on which they were originally run, according to the JCAHO. This applies to all programs except laboratory, which uses data from up to two previous years. Organizations will receive electronic notification that a new report is available.
Organizations will only receive an updated PFP report if there is a change to one or more of the priority focus areas (PFAs) and/or clinical/service groups (CSGs) in their accredited program since the previous report the JCAHO points out in the correspondence to surveyors.
What the change means for surveyors, according to the correspondence:
- The most recent quarterly PFP report will be available 14 days prior to the start of any survey for which a surveyor is scheduled.
- While previously PFP reports were only created for certain survey types, surveyors will now be able to access the most recent quarterly PFP report for any survey type.
- Organizations will now be able to see the PFA and CSGs rankings. In the past, JCAHO asked surveyors not to disclose rankings. "Feel free to discuss the rankings with the organizations and anticipate
questions from the organization," the JCAHO tells surveyors.
