Magazine reports JCAHO income, executive salaries

According to the article in Modern Healthcare, which can only be accessed by paying subscribers, the JCAHO's 2005 Form 990 reveals that the accreditor:
- took in more than $106 million while spending almost $100.8 million (about $92.3 million came from its survey fees)
- paid President Dennis O'Leary total compensation and benefits of $1,972,598 (up from $875,231 in 2004). O'Leary is set to retire at the end of 2007.
- paid Russell Massaro, executive vice president of accreditation and certification operations, $635,857.
The Modern Healthcare article also reports that the JCAHO's consulting and publishing division, Joint Commission Resources Inc., took in almost $40 million in 2005, up from $33.9 million in 2004. Its president and CEO, Karen Timmons, earned $515,285. More information is available in the November 20 issue of the magazine.
