JCAHO president: P4P environment ’heating up’
Accreditation Connection, June 12, 2006
Interest in pay-for-performance (P4P) is intensifying, if the number of listeners calling in to a recent JCAHO teleconference on the subject is any indication.
The JCAHO says 1,100 people listened to its free May 31 teleconference. During the program, JCAHO president Denis O'Leary said it was the largest the accreditor had ever had.
"Suffice to say, the performance measurement environment is heating up very rapidly," he said during the teleconference. "Performance measurement increasingly is being seen as a public good."
Calling the P4P movement a "daunting challenge," O'Leary suggested listeners study the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, which calls for new data- reporting requirements beginning next year.
