2007 Goals are coming
Accreditation Connection, June 12, 2006
Expect the JCAHO to release its annual list of National Patient Safety Goals this week.
The JCAHO board met June 2-4 at JCAHO headquarters in Chicago to decide which of the draft Goals to put on the list for 2007. The JCAHO considers field comment in deciding which Goals make the list.
Although the JCAHO has not yet issued official word about the 2007 Goals, several sources close to the JCAHO board have shared with Accreditation Connection's parent newsletter, Briefings on JCAHO, what they may be:
JCAHO spokeswoman Charlene Hill would not confirm the information, but said, via two e-mail correspondences last week, that the Goals had been decided at the early June meeting and that a news release would follow once it was ready. No release had been issued as of press time for Accreditation Connection.
Once the JCAHO releases official word about the 2007 Goals, the new ones plus which from the 2006 list may be blended into the standards manual (The Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals), Accreditation Connection subscribers will receive an e-mail blast with the news. In addition, expect ongoing coverage and analysis of the Goals in Briefings on JCAHO and its sister publication, Briefings on Patient Safety.
