Accreditation Connection, June 19, 2006
The more than 3,000 U.S. hospitals participating in the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's (IHI) 100,000 Lives Campaign had reason to celebrate last week.
During a ceremony in Atlanta, IHI officials announced that the program had saved 122,300 lives by implementing some or all of its six recommended quality improvement initiatives, such as rapid response teams, medication reconciliation, and heart attack care.
