An in-depth look at OR inventory issues
Accreditation Connection, July 31, 2006
An in-depth piece in the August 1 edition of SurgiCenter explores operating room inventory issues for ambulatory surgery centers.
"Clean tools, clean skin, and clean hands can help prevent infections resulting from surgery," the article begins. "OR inventory is another factor contributing to the reduction of surgical site infections. However, not everyone properly observes the principles of sterile cleaning and storage, and not everyone knows how to maintain the proper number of necessary supplies. Keeping sterile inventory sterile, and keeping the OR adequately supplied, is one of the greatest challenges for an ambulatory center."
