JCAHO to launch free data tracking system in ’07

The JCAHO is set to launch a free organizational dashboard system called Strategic Surveillance System, or S3 for short, for all accredited hospitals in 2007.
S3 will contain information reports that are generated from the Priority Focus Process, such as performance-related data from ORYX, past survey findings, complaint and sentinel event data, MedPar, and other sources.
JCAHO President Dennis O'Leary described S3 during a free audioconference for accredited organizations on July 26. Click here for instructions on how to access a replay of the call. A transcript is forthcoming, according to the JCAHO Web site, but one was not posted at press time.
S3 will eventually include a suite of information products, JCAHO says, in two "modules" under development: Module 1: Performance Risk Assessment, to be launched in mid 2007, and Module 2: Performance Measure Compare, to be launched in late 2007.
