Study: Magazine ’best’ list left off many
Accreditation Connection, August 28, 2006
A new JCAHO study finds that many hospitals were left off a national magazine's list of best hospitals for heart care.
The study, Performance of Top-Ranked Heart Care Hospitals on Evidence-Based Process Measures was published in the American Heart Association journal Circulation on August 8, takes issue with the annual list by U.S. News & World Report.
In a JCAHO press release about the study released August 18, the accreditor insists there are actually hundreds more hospitals where patients can receive care that measures up to or exceeds the care provided in the facilities listed by the magazine.
