JCAHO posts updated public information policy

Accreditation Connection, August 28, 2006

The JCAHO has modified its public information policy to address:

  • requests from state licensing agencies
  • the length of time that accreditation-related information about organizations that have been denied accreditation will be posted on the Quality Check Web site
  • alignment of the policy with the recently adopted Guidelines for the Release of Data and Data Analyses

Specifically, the policy includes a statement that the JCAHO will not publicly release any protected health information. Click here to read about other changes in the policy, as reported in the JCAHO's August edition of the free, online newsletter, This Month at the Joint Commission, posted last week.
