MS.1.20 back up for field review
Accreditation Connection, September 4, 2006
The JCAHO invites the field to comment on the latest revision of its hotly debated medical staff standard concerning bylaws, MS.1.20.
Click here to read the proposed language and access the 19-question comment form on the JCAHO's Web site, which may be submitted electronically. The review opened August 25 and closes October 27.
Among the issues debated about MS.1.20 has been whether the requirements would challenge a governing body's authority. The latest revision, however, would seem to alleviate that.
No change has been made to the January 1, 2007, implementation due date for the standard.
More information about MS.1.20 will be featured in the October issue of Briefings on JCAHO.
