HCPro unveils Association for Healthcare Accreditation Professionals

Accreditation Connection, October 2, 2006

The Association for Healthcare Accreditation Professionals (AHAP), a new community for specialists in healthcare organizations who manage accreditation and regulatory surveys, was announced by HCPro on September 15.

"HCPro is a recognized leader in offering products and services to assist survey coordinators," said Bruce Guzowski, CEO of the Marblehead, MA-based company, which publishes this e-zine. "There's no organization dedicated solely to those professionals, so we see an opportunity to create a community and to play a critical role in these professionals' success."

AHAP offers its members staff training ideas, tips on professional development, and educational information for all types of accreditation. AHAP members receive the current edition of The JCAHO Survey Coordinator's Handbook, HCPro's bestselling 200-plus-page guide. Another benefit is a free subscription to HCPro's twice-monthly staff training e-zine, AHAP Staff Challenge, a source for staff survey-preparation questions and creative training tips that begins mailing this week.

Members have an opportunity to network with accreditation peers through member publications, and an annual conference, the first of which is set for May 3-4, 2007, in Las Vegas. Expert faculty will provide information on the most pressing accreditation issues, including the JCAHO's National Patient Safety Goals, top problematic standards, medication management, and accreditation alternatives.
