Create patient safety awareness with 'room of horrors'

 

Creating a "room of horrors" is an easy and fun way to educate staff about hidden pratfalls to avoid when caring for patients. Set up a room with common items and mistakes that can lead to patient harm.

 

At Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, TX, staff set up two rooms, one with clinical errors and one with non-clinical issues. Hazards that are missed by most staff in the rooms tip off administrators as to safety issues that need to be addressed.
