Questions to ask during daily briefings with surveyors
Accreditation Connection, January 9, 2006
Use the daily briefings to your advantage, say the authors of Requirements for Improvement: The Essential Guide to JCAHO Standard Citations, a new HCPro book. Listen carefully to what the surveyors discuss at the daily briefing. Ask questions like the following:
- Would you please identify the specific standard and
element of performance you believe applies to this area
of concern? - What documentation do you believe was deficient?
Can you provide me with the number of the specific
record where this occurred? - What unit/specific area was this finding from?
- Is there any specific documentation we could provide
to help resolve this area of concern? - Would it help if you spoke to our pharmacy director to
clarify our policy?
