How can we improve compliance with the JCAHO’s prohibited abbreviations list?

Accreditation Connection, November 7, 2005

Make your current compliance rates known to your hospital's leadership and let leaders know where you need help with improvement, according to Della Lin, MD, and Glenn Krasker, MHSA.

It's important to provide information to leadership and get them involved, because it shows them where the hospital performs well and where there are still unresolved issues.

Once leadership is on board, they can play a big role in backing up an initiative and showing staff that the hospital takes patient safety issues seriously.
