How to prepare for an EC tracer
Accreditation Connection, October 10, 2005
Steven MacArthur, safety consultant for The Greeley Company, a division of HCPro, Inc., in Marblehead, MA., offers the following advice for EC tracer preparation:
- review safety committee minutes and annual EC plan evaluations because surveyors often examine those documents to determine whether a failure has occurred somewhere
- safety officers should also identify what the hospital's highest-risk processes might be and then determine how well those procedures conform to JCAHO standards
