Where begin to comply with the handoff communication patient safety goal

You begin with deciding "what is a handoff?" because the JCAHO has not provided a definition, and then develop a standardized format for communication, says Robert Marder, MD, of The Greeley Company, the consulting division of HCPro.
"Everyone needs to be on the same page," Marder says. "A checklist is a way to do this."
