Hospital works to regain accreditation
Accreditation Connection, May 16, 2005
Hospital officials from Berkeley, CA, met May 5 to discuss how to keep their facility from losing its JCAHO accreditation, according to the Berkeley Daily Planet. Alta Bates Summit Medical Center received a preliminary denial of accreditation last November.
The JCAHO cited the hospital with a long list of areas that need improvement including the following:
informed consent from behavioral health patients
patients with comparable needs receive same standard of treatment, care, and services
safe storage of medications
Hospital officials report some of the recommendations have already been remedied and taken off the list by the JCAHO.
