Hospital undergoes survey while being questioned on financial practices
Accreditation Connection, May 16, 2005
Earlier this month, JCAHO surveyors visited The University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, NJ, for a routine survey, but the hospital's review came while it is also receiving scrutiny from other parties, reports the Star-Ledger.
The hospital faces questions about its financial practices due to it being awarded millions of dollars in contracts without competitive bidding. The organization is also under investigation over how it gives charitable donations.
Despite being in the spotlight for its financial affairs, the New Jersey facility says it strives to meet JCAHO standards.
