Hospital appeals JCAHO survey, gets accreditation

Kaleida Health in Buffalo, NY, earned full JCAHO accreditation status after objecting to survey results from the tri-annual on-site visit in February, according to Buffalo Business First.
JCAHO surveyors reported several areas of noncompliance during their visit. These included not using a standardized list of abbreviations and not labeling fire extinguishers.
Healthcare facility officials said the JCAHO's new tracer methodology is skewed against multi-hospital systems like Kaleida, according to the story.
