Why can't I find improving the effectiveness of clinical alarms on the list of National Patient Safety Goals?

In 2005, the goal was moved to the environment of care chapter of the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals, say experts Glenn D. Krasker, MHSA, and Della M. Lin, MD in their book, The JCAHO 2005 National Patient Safety Goals: Successful Strategies for Compliance, published by HCPro.

Surveyors will likely determine compliance with the requirements under standards EC.6.10 and EC.6.20 as an equipment risk that organizations must manage and then appropriately test the devices. The JCAHO will want to see that organizations have identified the risk, put in place strategies to manage that risk, and then educated staff and evaluated competency.
