Put plans in place in case SARS returns

Given the Centers for Disease Control's belief that the flu-like illness SARS-which claimed 800 lives worldwide-could return as a seasonal disease this winter, government officials are urging providers to prepare now.
On July 30, the United States General Accounting Office (GAO) released a comprehensive report examining ways to prepare for another wave of SARS cases.
The report found that no new infectious disease control measures were introduced to contain SARS in the United States, where there were few SARS cases and no deaths. However, by using several proven infection control measures, hospitals kept SARS at bay. Learn how.
