The Joint Commission recently approved the 2016 accreditation and certification decision rules for all of its programs. The rules are effective for surveys and reviews as of January 1, 2016.
Among the changes are separated decision rules for organizations who seek initial accreditation from those for facilities looking for reaccreditation. A new Evidence of Standards Compliance ESC02 and Measure of Success MOS02 were added to clarify that failing to address all Requirements for Improvement could require the second submission of an ESC or MOS.
