The Joint Commission has released prepublication standards for its newly approved optional certification program for hospital perinatal healthcare services.
The program focuses on integrated, coordinated, patient-centered care beginning with prenatal and continuing through postpartum care. The program aims to improve perinatal outcomes for mothers and newborns who have been assessed as clinically uncomplicated.The prepublication standards are effective as of July 1, 2015.
