Rhode Island hospital found in violation of infection control policies

Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I., has been ordered by the state Department of Health to develop an action plan after being found in violation of its infection control policies, WPRI-TV reports. The hospital also must provide the state with a root cause analysis and must develop and implement staff education about care and treatment for patients with contagious or potentially contagious conditions.
 
A hospital spokesperson said that on February 28, a patient with potential measles symptoms was masked when first triaged in the emergency department, but not placed in a private room, according to WPRI. The patient later was found to not have measles.
