Joint Commission announces new engineering department, names Mills director

The Joint Commission has announced the formation of a new Department of Engineering, intended to bring together the accrediting body's engineering experts as well as those of related disciplines. The organization has named George Mills, previously senior engineer with the Standards Interpretation Group or SIG, as this newly formed department's director.
Mills is expected to form a department that will focus on key areas of hospital safety, including emergency preparedness, Life Safety Code®, and Environment of Care.
