First Primary Care Medical Home option awarded
Accreditation Connection, August 19, 2011
The Joint Commission has awarded the first Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH) award to AltaMed Health Services Corporation in Los Angeles.
The PCMH program is intended to compliment The Joint Commission’s Ambulatory Care Accreditation program. It complies with the new federal health care reform efforts and is intended to combine quality of care and patient safety improvements with increased reimbursement from third party payers when the designation is awarded and additional requirements of a PCMH are met.
“The Joint Commission commends AltaMed Health Services Corporation on being the first organization to be recognized under this option and for seeking the Primary Care Medical Home designation in order to foster better outcomes for its patients. Pursuing the designation illustrates their commitment to deliver primary care in a comprehensive, coordinated and accessible model,” Michael Kulczycki, executive director, Ambulatory Care Accreditation Program, The Joint Commission, said in an official statement from the organization.
