Joint Commission seeks volunteer hospitals to test new performance measures
Accreditation Connection, May 13, 2011
The Joint Commission is in the process of developing Sudden Cardiac Arrest performance measures, currently in the draft stage. To that end, the accreditation organization is seeking volunteer hospitals to help test the six draft performance measures as part of its alpha testing phase.
The six draft measures are:
- time to defibrillation
- endotracheal tube placement confirmation
- therapeutic hypothermia patient selection
- maintenance of temperature during therapeutic hypothermia
- outcomes for patients receiving therapeutic hypothermia after cardiac arrest outside the hospital
- outcomes for patients receiving therapeutic hypothermia following cardiac arrest occurring in any setting
Hospitals wishing to participate should fill out the online form on The Joint Commission’s web site by May 16, 2011.
