Accreditation Connection, March 11, 2011
The Joint Commission has launched the latest in its ongoing Speak Up™ campaign, this time focusing on kidney dialysis. The educational program, titled “Dialysis: Five ways to be active in your care at the hospital,” was launched on World Kidney Day, March 10, 2011.
This campaign, based around a downloadable educational brochure, provides patients with tips and guidance on managing their dialysis during a hospital stay, avoiding infections, avoiding negative medication interactions, and more.
The educational program has the support of the American Association of Kidney Patients, the National Kidney Foundation and the Renal Physicians Association.
