Having Confidence in your contractors' performance
Part 4 of 7
Review turn-around
When working with a client recently, medical record review showed an average of a four to five days turn-around time for these types of consults to occur even though the vendor’s policy stated a 24-48 hour window. This created a delay in treatment of which leadership was unaware.
The client then added this data requirement to their monitoring of the contract. Vendors want to show themselves in the best possible light and their data will be reflective of that. Therefore, you may not be supplied with the most relevant data that you need to ensure the quality of care delivered to your patients. It doesn’t hurt to perform spot checks of patient records yourself either. This can occur during routine chart review or tracer activity on the floors.
